Timur SERGEYENIA, Pianist.

The concert career of Timur Sergeyenia has been going on for more than 45 years.
He performed in Belgium, Germany, England, France, Monaco, Mexico, Spain, Switzerland, Luxemburg, Austria, Holland, Italy, Portugal, Sweden, Denmark, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovak Republic, Bulgaria, Romania, Russia, Belarus, Moldova, the Ukraine, Lithuania, Latvia, Uzbekistan.

In 2020, the French Academic Society "ARTS-SCIENCES-LETTRES"

honoured Timur Sergeyenia with its highest award, the Platinum Medal for his distinguished artistic career.

This award has been given annually since 1915. The first laureate was Queen Elizabeth of Belgium. Louis Lumière, Albert Schweitzer, Jacques Yves Cousteau, Olivier Messiaen, Tibor Varga, Yehudi Menuhin, Jean Cocteau, as well as many other scientists, artists, political and public figures are among the award laureates. Timur Sergeyenia was one of the last to receive a musical education from the outstanding musicians who carried on the most important lines of the traditions of the old Russian piano school:
 

  • Grigory Schershevsky (Professor of the Belarusian State Conservatory, formerly graduated from the great Russian pianist Vladimir Sofronitsky)

  • Irina Tsvetaeva (Professor of the Belarusian State Conservatory, formerly graduated from Prof. Lev Oborin, winner of the First International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw in 1938) 

  • Naum Shtarkman (Professor at the Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatoire, the last direct graduate of the legendary Russian pianist, Prof. Konstantin Igumnov, one of the founders of the Russian Piano School).

During his studies he was supervised by outstanding musicians, professors of the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatoire:
 

  • Tatiana Nikolaeva and Lazar Berman (formerly a graduated of Prof. A. Goldenweiser)

  • Viktor Merzhanov (formerly a graduate of Prof. S. Feinberg)

  • Valery Kastelsky (formerly a graduate of G. Neuhaus)

  • Boris Shatskes (formerly a graduate of his father, Prof. A. Shatskes, formerly a graduate of Nikolai Medtner).

In the following years, numerous personal meetings, master classes and regular lessons with eminent musicians were of particular importance for the further development of his artistic career.  Among them: Gustav Leonhardt, Hans Leygraf, Paul Badura-Skoda, Karl-Heinz Kämmerling, Jurgen Meyer-Josten, Fou T'Soung, Frederic Gevers.
The meeting with Yehudi Menuhin in 1998 was of particular significance.

1988: Laureate of the National Piano Competition in Minsk, Belarus

1993: Laureate of the First International Piano Competition "S. Rachmaninoff" in Moscow, Russia.

From 1993 to 1995 - Assistant of Prof. Naum Shtarkman in his piano class at the Russian Classical Academy (Moscow).

From 1995 to 1999: Teacher of piano at the National Conservatory Minsk and at the Belarusian Music Lyceum.
 

From 1996 to 2003 Timur Sergeyenia worked extensively as a soloist with one of the leading Parisian concert agencies, which used to represent the best Soviet and Russian orchestras in Western Europe.

From 1999 Timur Sergeyenia has been living and working in Germany, where he actively develops his international concert career.

For many years, his life and professional career have been linked to Belgium.

Since 1996 he has been a regular guest at numerous Belgian concert halls.
Since 2005 Timur Sergeyenja has been living and working in Belgium, where he successfully combined his concert career with piano teaching, conducting, numerous artistic and concert projects.
In 2005, Timur Sergeyenia was invited to become Professor of Chamber Music at the Royal Conservatory of Ghent, where he worked successfully until 2014.
Since 2013 Timur Sergeyenia is Professor of Piano at the LUCA School of Arts, Lemmens Campus, Belgium.

Timur Sergeyenia was born in 1969 in Minsk.  His musical education began when he was three years old at a special school for talented children by the National Conservatory Minsk.

At the age of four he gave his first public concert with his own compositions. At seven he performed for the first time as a soloist with the National Chamber Orchestra of Belarus (1977).

Timur was known as a young pianist and composer. He was the author of numerous piano works.

He wrote in 1978 “Khatyn Ballad” which attracted the attention of press and made ​​him famous in the USSR, as a child prodigy.

In 1979 Timur was a representative of the Soviet Union at the first World Children’s Assembly “Banner of Peace” (Sofia, Bulgaria), where he was recognized as the most talented participant.

During this period, numerous film and television studios of the USSR, Bulgaria, East Germany, the Czech Republic have made about Timur documentary films, television and radio shows.

In 1980, the Japanese broadcaster TBS invites Timur as a representative of the USSR in the international project”Children of the World”.

The film about Timur Sergeyenia “Young Composer” has been shown in many countries around the world. In 1982 the film received the Grand Prix at the Film Festival in Milan.
